When Facebook turns on conversation search, it’s over for traditional marketing

marketingThe more i think about it the more i realize that marketing will completely change over the next years. The floodgates were opened by Summize, the first real advanced search engine for twitter which was then bought out by Twitter and turned into search.twitter.com.

Being able to search in real-time through the conversations of Twitter’s 9 million users is both unprecedented and immensely powerful from a marketing perspective. But it won’t stop there. It’s only a matter of time before Facebook turns on conversation search - they have to if they want to have a chance to compete with Twitter. The moment they do that, it’s bye-bye time for traditional marketing. There is no marketing system in the world that can compete with being able to search through 200 million people’s conversations and connect specifically with the target audience, all at 0 cost. When that happens, we can all expect far fewer billboard ads, newspaper ads, even online text and banner ads may become irrelevent.

Remember where you heard it first, facebook conversation search is the future of marketing.
